All characters that aren't even half as good up close. His range is insane, only second to Astaroth and Ivy and on par with Mina. SC really hasn't hit a home run in forever.Click to expand.I was using an hyperbole, but besides those that literally live and die by a tool, I really think he's the best in everything.ĭamage wise he's only second to the big hitters: Nightmare, Siegfried, Astaroth and ivy, and even then his SC damage is so insane it's second to none I belive.

So, yeah, I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on people seriously wanting to go back to IV (. There are people who like it, such as myself, but we're distinctly in the minority on this one. Even when it was still relatively new, people were talking about going back to SCII and a few crazy misguided inviduals wanting to go back to SCIII. Somehow I doubt there's been an explosion of activity since then.Īgain, I liked IV, but not even I'm going to pretend like it was the high point of the series' popularity. I've watched it steadily decline over the years, and other than peak hours when there might be 12 people online, I don't even want to play anymore because matches are so few and far between and you fight the same people over and over again. It's just too bad Darth Vader couldn't join the roster, heh.ĭid you by chance go online in 4? Because I do like Soul Calibur IV and have played it consistently since the beginning up until VI's release, and I can tell you definitively that that game's online has been dead for ages (360 version at least). if they gave us parts from SCIV that'd be cool, but I like the fighting mechanics as they are right now. it's the best SC game I've played in a while.

At least in Libra the parry mechanic isn't going to kill you outright. The Tower game mode puts you up against characters who can auto-parry everything and break all your throws, not to mention they damage you with every parry. In fact wasn't there a Darth Vader joke video along those lines? The Tag-switch mechanic felt under-developed as you could easily ring out/sweep people tagging in from a K.O. Would be nice to see different Nightmare parts though, especially for female characters to use. Outside that, Nightmare had three different design sets (and malfested arms to go with), so I'm not sure what they were going for in that game, creatively. Speaking of which WHY DID they only use P2 outfit parts for that game, anyway? I think about the only thing I'd maybe want would be some of the exclusive equipment characters got, like Hilde and Setsuka's outfits, but if you compared their P2 outfits with the parts you get, the parts were more shoddily rendered. The bonus Guest characters felt like they stood out like sore thumbs because they had anime faces compared to how realistic SC characters are supposed to be designed. Ivy feels way too convoluted than she currently is, which is a good thing now because I doubt I'd want to play her older incarnations.Ĭharacters like Apprentice felt way too fast compared to other characters, so there was a very obvious balance issue back then. Unless your main was Darth Vader or Yoda or something.Ĭharacters felt fairly sluggish, Nightmare and Siegfried felt like clones of eachother back then, combo-wise, and the unlock mechanics for equipment/characters were a real chore. Honestly I don't know why people would want to go back to 4. Just to make a comparison between this game and SCIV that people were talking about.
